General Submissions

As always, send in anything you have! Many don’t have the time, patience or intestinal fortitude it takes to be a shoggoth.net staffer. That’s just fine and dandy. Send in your works anyway, and enjoy the thrill of seeing your words on one of the largest Mythos sites out there.

Submissions: Dunno if you guys are interested but…

I’ve been receiving a lot of e-mails lately saying dunno if you guys are interested, but I’ve written <insert ingenious article here>. Why do you people send those sort of things? Continue reading »

Lovecraft… or Derleth??

Donovan Loucks, of HPLA fame, recently posted a petition online urging Carroll & Graf Publishers to remove Lovecrafts name from a collection of works featuring Derleth’s works. To sign the petition yourself, surf on over to:

Dark Alliances

As Alt.horror.Cthulhu readers may have
heard
, there is a new Mythos Website out there that basically is the same
thing as shoggoth.net.  Well, whilst a flame war was going on on
alt.horror.cthulhu, Franz, The webmaster of the site, and myself had a civil
discussion.  We decided there’s no point in us covering the same ground.
So here’s what we came up with.  Cthulhu: Imperial Literature is now a
"sister" site to shoggoth.net and vice versa.  The two will grow to
compliment each other more and more.  Shoggoth.net will be be the place to
come get news, scenarios and stories, whilst C:IL will be the place to go for
previously un-offered art, and will also be the new home of The Shoggoth Network
Forums.  You can reach Franz to tell him what a horrible mistake he’s
making and that he’s really just taking his life into his own hands after
covering them with baby oil at:
[email protected]
.  We look forward to what this will bring us and
are taking another step in what we offer you, the readers and the fans.

New Free Cthulhu Mythos Game: FIEND

Fiend is an action/adventure along the lines of Alone in the Dark and it is greatly influenced by the stories of HP Lovecraft. In the game you play the role of Nick Cane, a mine-inspector, sent to a little town outside of Boston to do a mineral inspection. At first it is seems like a routine job, but you soon find out that the village hides blasphemous secrets.

I of the Storm

It’s been looking back at me for hours. I can smell its fetid breath now as it draws ever nearer, hear its grumbling and moaning as if it were in the next room.

Parchment

Once I gloried in the smell of old books, their crumbling, mildew-stained pages reminding me of the ancient and forgotten mysteries I beheld nightly within their covers. But no longer, for it was my fate to survive the most primal of terrors, and to find myself beyond the shroud of ordinary existence for a while…a destiny I shall relate in this account.

Four Visiting Ghosts

In 1843, Charles Dickens published the Christmas classic, A Christmas Carol. For those of you who have somehow missed either the literary work or the barrage of film adaptations, it’s about a miserly old bastard named Scrooge who is visited by four different spirits (an old business partner, as well as the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet To Come) who show him how to find the true meaning of Christmas. Fifty years after the publishing of this fine tale, mischievous parties decide to do a little reenactment of their own.

Three Great Old Ones

There are some pretty general assumptions about the Great Old Ones. First, that all of them were to some degree friendly or neutral to each other. (Or, they seem that way to this uneducated boob.) Second, is that they are all somehow sealed away by intentional means. This scenario tosses those two assumptions out the window as three bitter enemies prepare to awaken from the millennia long slumber in order to renew their past gripes with each other.
