October 4th: The Deep One Scientists

The location is Fantari Island, early 1920’s. A group of scientists begin experiments that will change the course of human history. Unfortunately for scores of fisherman and investigators, these scientists were not human. Of the souls who disappeared near the shoreline, most were never seen again. Lost or found, all can claim sacrifices made for the detriment of mankind.

No? Let us appeal to your sense of reason…by subverting it entirely. The Siren’s Song is a spell known only to Deep Ones. It’s the most beautiful sound you’ve ever heard. Lay back while its honeyed notes slide over your will. Wherever it is sung is where you need to be. Whatever is casting it is who you want to be with.

The Deep Ones are intrinsically rational. It makes them exemplary scientists. Occasional sex with the subjects is a part of study. Once locked away in their caverns, compliant humans have the most pleasant experience. Thanks to this spell’s special effect on sensory perception, the truth of their circumstances remains clouded. Instead of fins and gills, victims see themselves obeying virulent versions of Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence.

The captured humans become mutable objects of intrigue. Not all results all the same. Some are just dissected (hint: interns). The most inspirational experiments have forcibly increased brainpower, developed synthetic hybrid blood, and initiated growth of supplementary working limbs. A special acknowledgement goes to creative applications of human skin.

This was 95 years ago. Imagine what they have accomplished since then. Now take the appropriate sanity damage.
