Film Review: Stuart Gordons Dagon

Stuart Gordon’s new Dagon comes out for sale in the US April 23rd, 2002.
Luckily through some finagling (read: pact with Satan) and an unpleasant run in
with South American smugglers, I’ve got in my greasy hand.. The New Dagon
DVD.  Without further ado, here is my general over all feel. Continue reading »

Lovecraft… or Derleth??

Donovan Loucks, of HPLA fame, recently posted a petition online urging Carroll & Graf Publishers to remove Lovecrafts name from a collection of works featuring Derleth’s works. To sign the petition yourself, surf on over to:

Dark Alliances

As Alt.horror.Cthulhu readers may have
heard
, there is a new Mythos Website out there that basically is the same
thing as shoggoth.net.  Well, whilst a flame war was going on on
alt.horror.cthulhu, Franz, The webmaster of the site, and myself had a civil
discussion.  We decided there’s no point in us covering the same ground.
So here’s what we came up with.  Cthulhu: Imperial Literature is now a
"sister" site to shoggoth.net and vice versa.  The two will grow to
compliment each other more and more.  Shoggoth.net will be be the place to
come get news, scenarios and stories, whilst C:IL will be the place to go for
previously un-offered art, and will also be the new home of The Shoggoth Network
Forums.  You can reach Franz to tell him what a horrible mistake he’s
making and that he’s really just taking his life into his own hands after
covering them with baby oil at:
[email protected]
.  We look forward to what this will bring us and
are taking another step in what we offer you, the readers and the fans.

New Free Cthulhu Mythos Game: FIEND

Fiend is an action/adventure along the lines of Alone in the Dark and it is greatly influenced by the stories of HP Lovecraft. In the game you play the role of Nick Cane, a mine-inspector, sent to a little town outside of Boston to do a mineral inspection. At first it is seems like a routine job, but you soon find out that the village hides blasphemous secrets.

Get it at http://fiend.cjb.net

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy American Thanksgiving to all of our faithful readers. And if you think there’s nothing stygian or blasphemous about Thanksgiving, you’ve OBVIOUSLY never seen me eat turkey.. I think my mom lost a finger.

Have a day,

The Mindless Propoganda Machine!

Update Oct 12, 2014 , the phpads system is long dead, however we are using Ads by Google now.

Shoggoth.net is currently looking into generating revenue in order to offer to pay authors to write stories.  Nothing is carved in stone yet and it will probably be a month or two before we begin paying just so we can get some cash in the bank so to speak and we can all get acclimated to this new system (*shudder* accounting *shudder*).   Continue reading »

Stephen King interviewed on Salon

Stephen King, author extraordinaire, interviewed with Salon.com on 09-98 regarding his book, Bag of Bones, which was pointed out to me recently.  Of course in the interview, the old gent came up.  He, in all of his trailer park eloquence, described Lovecraft’s work as something best read by 13 to 15 year olds and is basically composed of gigantic disembodied vaginas.   Albeit very true that whilst in that age, I was very much interested in vaginas, I hardly found Lovecraft a source for blatant pornography.  NOW KING on the other hand, was always good for a pointless 300 pages describing in detail a character with some overly perverse obsession with some bizarre fetish that has really nothing to do with the story besides of course, securing the MA rating on his books.
