The toys have been in the box longer than the child has been in the house.
Throughout history, toys have brought merriment and joy to children of all ages. Dolls and teddy bears are widespread across cultures, varying in size and materials, from simple scraps of cloth bound by twine and crudely painted faces to elaborate, articulated figures of plastic, porcelain, and soft fur.

Murdertoys, on the other hand, are an entirely different story. Toys animated by nefarious magic or possessed by malign spirits, often modified with bits of glass, rusty nails, fishhooks, or even knives, are easily mistaken for discarded, broken playthings when lying still. Once in motion, the illusion shatters, and laughter turns to screams as they stalk their prey and pounce with little warning.
Their diminutive size may cause them to be underestimated and disregarded as a minor threat, but for children, even one of these insidious creations can pose a perilous threat, and sadly, they often come in packs. Kids surviving such an encounter are sure to be left traumatized when items of comfort suddenly become the stuff of nightmares.
