Seven nights of waxing moon, and a candle rendered from someone you knew.
Cost: 2 POW, 1D4 Sanity. Casting Time: 7 days.
This spell allows for the creation of an enchanted weapon at unusually small cost in POW. A number of very specific conditions must be met.
First, the weapon or weapons must be made from stone, bone, ivory, or meteoric iron. Materials used in hilts, handles, and wrappings are not bound by these restrictions. Bullets and shotgun pellets cannot be created with this spell, as the heat and pressure of firing destroy the enchantment.
Second, the caster must also be the one who crafts the weapons, which requires a successful Craft roll. This can be Craft (Bladesmith) for metal swords, daggers, and knives, Craft (Fletcher) for arrows, Craft (Flintknapping) for stone weapons, or Craft (Weaponsmith) for things like sling bullets and clubs. For very small items such as slingstones, darts, javelin tips, or arrowheads, a crafter can create 1D3 per casting. This is doubled to 2D3 if the Craft roll is better than a Hard success.
The conditions for crafting are exacting. The work must be completed within seven days, or rather seven nights: it can only be done during the nights of the waxing and full moon, and only between sunset and dawn. Other than moonlight, the only illumination allowed comes from candles or lamps whose wax or oil is rendered from human fat. If the caster somehow manages to do the work under candles or oil rendered from their own fat, the POW and Sanity costs of the spell are halved.
If every condition is met, an enchanted weapon is created. That enchantment lasts only as long as the caster remains alive. If the caster is ever reduced to zero hit points, even if they are stabilised and recover, the enchantment is dispelled. The weapon crumbles into useless dust and cannot be used in further castings.
