Bolotnik

“He was collecting rushes when something exploded at his feet. He reeled – and it pulled him under the water. There was nothing I could do. And every night, I hear him calling again…”

Bolotnik
Bolotnik by Brad Hicks

The bolotnik appears as a large, scaled, corpulent man with gills and no eyes, with very long arms and a tail. He can imitate many different sounds to draw prey to him (Hear Noise or another listening roll to detect).

The bolotnik creates a special concoction of herbs grown in the swamp and placed in a sachet. Once prey is nearby, they may attempt to throw it at a group (save vs. spell or be dazed for 1D3 rounds). The bolotnik then tries to drag the creatures beneath the water to drown (make Constitution checks each round, with 1D6 damage each round after one fails), after which it will feed upon them.

If pressed, the bolotnik may create weather or cause an ice storm in order to escape.
