Please allow me to introduce myself..

Due mainly to a blatant oversight by myself, I feel it necessary to explain this site.  I have come to the conclusion that many people don’t understand what the Shoggoth Network is really all about, so here we go.

Where do you get those Articles from? From you.  Shoggoth.net is a almost completely open forum. Obviously I will not publish one liners (i.e, “Check out my Cthulhu Site!!”) But anyone who submits an valid article, be it story, news item, CoC Module, whatever will be posted.  Remember the Shoggoth Network is by the fans for the fans.

What’s up with those comments? Every article on the Shoggoth Network has attached to it a fully functional forum for discussion.  If there is a story or article that you would like to discuss, feel free to discuss it!  All of the comments are fully thread able and searchable.  This also gives authors a chance to collect feedback from readers as well as possibly push some other project that they are working on.

What benefit do I have for posting at shoggoth.net? Audience for one, just last month alone our site got 106592 unique hits. While that is not much in the standards of Yahoo.com for example, it is a considerable number.  Therefore, any article on the Shoggoth Network will have relatively high exposure, thus helping to increase your fame as a writer.  There is also the comment section that I mentioned before, the Shoggoth Network gives you a chance to interact with your audience to hone your craft and improve your writing style and ability. Another neat feature of the Shoggoth Network is the ability to link directly to YOUR stories, take the case  of Jack Reda.  Jack is a member of the Mythos Organization S.P.O.N.G.E. Jack routinely posts articles and updates about S.P.O.N.G.E. and has recently submitted a independent short story called The Grappler.  Now, if on Jack’s personal homepage he wanted to link to the Shoggoth Network but just wanted HIS stories to be displayed, he could just like this. Now, Jack didn’t get this for being extra special or anything of the sort, the backend engine of the site automatically does it. All content posted on the Shoggoth Network is property of the original author NOT the Shoggoth Network.  Although by posting, you are giving us permission to use it on the site, it is still YOUR story. Not ours.  No one can do anything with your story with out asking you first, not us.  I have been looking for a good Privacy Statement/Terms of use declaring this in a legalese manner, if anyone stumbles across one, let me know.

That’s all well and good, but what about the reader? We offer you a completely searchable, categorical archive of Mythos articles.  Be it comedies, horror, adventure you name it.  We try to stock it all forms of Mythos literature, to quote the popular site UserFriendly; “a clearinghouse for all things Cthulhu”.  On top of a wide selection, we also give you the chance to interact with the author thus helping you get a feeling of interaction and involvement that most sites can not offer you. I am constantly attempting to upgrade and add to the functionality of this site, do all I can to make the site richer and more diverse.  If there is something that you would like to see on the Shoggoth Network, let me know, I’d be glad to hear about it.

I hope this about sums it up, if not, post your question in that comment system I kept going on about.

Thank you for your time, Matt “TrollBoy” Wiseman,
webmaster,
The Shoggoth Network.
