“Hitler took the guns, Stalin took the guns, Mao took the guns, Fidel Castro took the guns, Hugo Chávez took the guns. And I am here to tell you, 1776 WILL COMMENCE AGAIN IF YOU TRY TO TAKE OUR FIREARMS! It doesn’t matter how many lemmings you get out there on the street begging for them to have their guns taken; we will not relinquish them, do you understand? That’s why you’re going to fail, and the establishment knows, no matter how much propaganda, the Republic will rise again when you attempt to take our guns!”

This being has been around for millennia, possibly since the dawn of mankind’s ability to speak to one another (some mythos scholars contend that it has been around since the dawn of communication between conscious beings). The Roman mythos scholar Antony Minucius first documented it in 119 AD when he discovered an entire town in Cappadocia had fallen to the whims of one man and the intense speeches he made every Thursday against Hadrian and the Empire itself.
Lingua Morbo can spread into the minds of the weak willed (low POW) who aren’t able to think logically enough to withstand its influence. People who are suffering long bouts of depression, stress, or anger are the most likely to succumb to the being’s influence. From there, the being will continue to propagate itself through the host’s ability to communicate to others. This was usually seen in the past as “soapbox preaching” and the occasional radical fringe political movement but recent progress in communication technology has created an environment for Lingua Morbo to thrive in.
The common signs of Lingua Morbo’s influence are hate-speech, fear-mongering, and intense paranoia. Any social change or world event will be spun to be the end of the world or society, as we know it. The world is constantly on the edge of a cliff, ready to topple over. This gives mythos scholars a hint into the machinations of the being: it is trying to possess every human being in the world so it can kill us all at the same exact time in one glorious apocalyptic event before moving on to the next world.
To clarify, Lingua Morbo is not a physical entity that can be killed; only the host body of a strain of Lingua Morbo can be killed. Containment and therapy are the only possible ways of eradicating the being from a host’s body. Arkham Asylum in Arkham, MA has a discreet program for any Investigator Organization that believes one of their members (or loved ones) has succumbed to the being’s influence.
Some mythos scholars believe that the current front-runner of the 2016 American Republican primary is a host to a strain of Lingua Morbo (there is speculation that several other candidates are hosts as well).
