Despite a misprint in their onsite book; Shoggoth.net Group will most decidedly NOT be at Origins Game Fair, nor are we associated with their Cthulhuthon. Although this was communicated to Origins staff some time ago, it appears that they have made an over site. We wish Rogue Cthulhu good luck with their further endeavors.
Gentle Readers, after a 3-day bus trip that has caused soreness in areas of my body not formerly known to science, I am in the city of Providence, H.P. Lovecraft’s familiar haunt (GET IT? OMG HUMOR). It is a beautiful town, and I shall be EHRMAGERD posting her and on Facebook like a man on fire trying desperately to get a friend request accepted from a bucket of water.
I will for now publish just a teaser since nothing has actually started yet, but PICS!
Chaosium has recently posted revisions to their gamemaster program. It’s now called the Cult of Chaos…
Have a look, here: http://www.chaosium.com/gamemaster-program/
Exciting news, my hungry little shape-shifters! This August marks 125 years since the Old Gent from Providence was born, and the biggest Lovecraft-theme Con is happening from August 20-23. If you can’t make it to the event (or, heck, even if you can) you will be able to read my blogs and live tweeting from NecronomiCon Providence all during the convention, because Shoggoth.net will be there.
Below is the official press release (you must check out their website) and after the jump, their amazing poster for the event. Stay tuned to Shoggoth.net, where all the most eldritch monsters come to play!
NecronomiCon Providence to Commemorate 125th Birthday of H.P. Lovecraft August 20-23, 2015
PROVIDENCE, RI (July 20, 2015) – The countdown is on and passes are selling fast for NecronomiCon Providence 2015! The world’s foremost celebration of author H.P. Lovecraft and the many writers and artists he inspired returns August 20-23 to the Biltmore and Omni hotels in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. With Lovecraft’s hometown of Providence as a backdrop, this four-day event will serve as a tribute to his influential writing, as well as the city’s celebrated culture and history. This year’s convention coincides with the 125th anniversary of Lovecraft’s birth in 1890, and organizers are busy coordinating citywide festivities to commemorate the grand occasion.
Those Ne’er do wells at Rogue Cthulhu are at it again; this time bringing madness & horror to Pulp Fest 2015 in Columbus, Ohio! Their schedule is after the fold:
Those nutty folks over at Rogue Cthulhu are already hard at work prepping for 2016’s Rogue Cthulhu Invitational! You can sign up at this handy link they provided and enjoy the fun at Origins in 2016!
While Shoggoth.net won’t be in attendance (yet), PulpFest writes:
Join us Thursday, August 13th – Sunday, August 16th at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus, Ohio for PulpFest 2015. The theme this year is the Cthulhu Mythos and Weird tales. Normally this is more a literary con but this will be the first year for gaming, too.
We are starting off small since it is our first year for gaming but we will have the Clark room set aside for us. We will start gaming on the 14th. So far, I have lined up several groups to run a number of RPGs such as Call of Cthulhu and Pathfinder along with board gaming.
PulpFest is a convention for readers and collectors of the old adventure and SF magazines from the 1930s through the 1950s. These magazines are part of the foundation that gaming was created on. These stories started the stories of the Shadow, Doc Savage, Conan and featured the Cthulhu Mythos stories by H. P. Lovecraft along with a the works of writes like Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler.
There are a number of authors reading their works and panels on different literary themes. Also, the dealers room is great and has a large variety of books, magazines, films and artwork. It is a lot smaller than Gen Con and Origins but like many small local cons, it has an atmosphere all its own
Friends, take a look-see at the entertaining and informative panel on “H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos” panel at this past weekend’s Phoenix Comicon 2015. Great stuff with Yours Truly on the left in the ginormous beard!
